How GIS Export works

From a QLD or NSW street address to downloadable site data in minutes, here is how the GIS export workflow works.

01

Enter a street address

Type any Queensland or New South Wales street address. We locate the cadastral parcel at that address, which becomes the anchor for all site-data requests and export clipping.

02

Choose your datasets and format

Select exactly what you need, from one layer to a full site-data pack. Then pick your output format: Shapefile, DXF, GeoPackage, KMZ, or any combination. You can also choose your target coordinate system.

The coordinate system is auto-suggested based on the location (MGA Zone 54, 55, or 56 depending on longitude). GDA2020 is the default; GDA94 and WGS84 geographic are also available.

03

We fetch the data

Each dataset is fetched from the relevant state government source and clipped to a buffer around your property. This keeps the GIS export focused on the site and immediate surrounds. Here is what each dataset contains:

DatasetDescriptionFormats
Property BoundaryCadastral lot polygon with lot/plan identifierSHP, DXF, GPKG
Contours (LiDAR 1m)1m interval contour lines. Z coordinates in DXF, elevation attribute in SHP/GPKGSHP, DXF, GPKG
GeologyBedrock geology polygons with rock unit name and ageSHP, DXF, GPKG

Elevation PointsSpot elevation points sampled from the DEMSHP, GPKG

04

Download your ZIP

All selected layers and formats are packaged into a single ZIP file and downloaded directly in your browser. The ZIP is organised by format, including shp/, dxf/, and the GeoPackage at the root. A COPYRIGHT.txt file is included noting the data sources.

DXF exports include the property boundary and contours draped onto the DEM surface, giving true 3D coordinates ready for Civil 3D and similar CAD workflows.

Coverage & limitations

✓ Supported

  • Queensland street addresses
  • New South Wales street addresses
  • Urban, suburban and rural parcels
  • GDA2020, GDA94, and WGS84 coordinate systems

✗ Not supported

  • VIC, SA, WA, TAS, ACT, NT addresses
  • PO boxes or non-street addresses
  • Real-time or live sensor data
  • Bathymetric or offshore data

Data is sourced from state government spatial portals and reflects the currency of those sources. LiDAR and elevation coverage vary by area, so some rural QLD and NSW locations may have lower resolution site-data outputs.
